It is the first & only Concours d'Elegance in The Middle East. This show highlights the great passion for automobiles that the country has had ever since the 1910’s decade when the first car, a Belgium-made Minerva, arrived on its shores. The Concours is expected to continue through the years to come. On each succeeding year we hope that the participant automobiles will be amongst the most noteworthy expression of innovative engineering, handsome design, quality build performance success and historical interest.
When: February 15th-18th Where: Marina Crescent, Arabian Gulf, Kuwait For more info: [email protected] Adapting to a new culture with its new customs, new foods, new music, new driving habits, new weather, and a new language or dialect is called acculturation. Moving to a new place brings so many changes all at once, that it can be exhilarating at times and overwhelming at other times. Even if you have previously worked abroad or lived in another Arab country, you can expect to experience phases of acculturation when moving to Kuwait. Moving can bring moments of uncertainty, confusion, misunderstandings and mistakes, even if you were very confident and comfortable living and working in the previous country. There are individual differences in the length and intensity of each phase of acculturation, but if you have enough patience and support to adapt through all four phases of acculturation, you can gain new skills, learn more about yourself, and develop a surprising level of comfort in your new home. After visiting the exhibition, Telling Tales at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Imad caught the bug for design. He formed A&A out of an interest to create a change in spacial environments. With A&A he focuses on delivering 'interesting' pieces and creating interest in looking at and examining design, as closely as examining the utility of the piece. The environment we inhabit, should be a reflection of our character and interests, but sometimes we can't find that statement piece, this is where A&A positions itself. These pieces will often have a story to tell, or new materials. A&A does personal consulting, and offers a range of design works. Today's technologies have opened up a wonderful world of materials to inspire and incorporate into the utilitarianism and esthetics of design. Imad Sadik will be at the gallery for the duration of the show. |
