Knitters and Crocheters of all experience levels are invited to take part in an event to make a community-crafted giant Kuwaiti flag as part of this year's National Day celebrations! Knitting will be from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at: the Ties Center in Shuhada, Block 4, Street 413, Villa #67 on Tuesday, February 7th. The participants will attempt to craft as many 4x4 inch squares as they can in green, red, white or black. The completed squares will then be joined together to build the flag. If you wish to contribute to the event but are unable to attend, you can STILL participate by bringing your own 4x4 inch squares to the Ties Center where the ever-growing flag will be made and displayed until mid-February. There will be a 'speed knitting' competition where expert 'needle clackers' will have ten minutes to knit like crazy! The one who completes the most stitches is the winner and will receive a prize. The person providing the most squares will also receive an award. Even if you don't knit/crochet, you can help them create the flag by sewing the pieces together. The flag is to be presented to the Emir along with a book of signatures of all contributors to the project.
